OMAR premiered in May 2013 at Cannes Film Festival at Un Certain Regard section where it won the Jury Prize. Was shown in September 2013 at Toronto International Film Festival at Special Presentations section. Was selected as Palestine's official entry to the 86th Academy Awards and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film in 2014. Got theatrical release in the US in February 2014 and now is available on both DVD and Blu-ray.



                       

 

OMAR is written and directed by two-times Academy Award nominee Hany Abu-Assad whose film Paradise Now won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film in 2006 and was nominated for an Academy Award in the same category.
